Multi-player Settings
Description:
This is where you configure the multi-player settings. Here you can activate portals for your player to exit to other worlds, and/or for other players to enter this world.
At any time to go back to the top level, use the [Main Help] button below.
Options:
Game worlds in zone - To help ensure you get the nearest connection, we've broken the list servers job into zones of coverage. Please set this to your zone before starting multi-player and the list server will only give you other worlds in your zone (if any currently available). Similarly, if you run a server (activate 'portals in' below) then the list server will assign your game to that zone for other players to travel to.
Enable portals to other worlds - This activates outgoing portals for your player to other worlds. If it is NOT turned on, then you can't turn on the other mode either (Portals in - also known as 'Server mode').
Allow others to travel to this world - This enables incomming portals, allowing players from other worlds to enter this world (currently loaded level only). This actually starts up a game Server which listens to packets from other Lords of Irongate players. When the server starts it will register itself with our list server which waits and randomly hands out your server location to players looking for worlds in your zone.
Local IP to bind to - IF you turned on the above portals in (activating Server mode) then you can optionally specify your machines IP address. NOTE: LEAVE THIS AT 0 [ZERO] FOR THE GAME TO DETECT YOUR DEFAULT IP. Changing this is ONLY recommended for power users of machines with MULTIPLE IP's where they want to specify which Network Interface Card to use.
Port - IF you turned on the above portals in (activating Server mode) then you can optionally specify the PORT which the server should listen at. NOTE: LEAVE THIS AT 0 [ZERO] FOR THE GAME TO SELECT A RANDOMLY AVAILABLE PORT#. Changing this is ONLY recommended for power users of machines who have specific firewall requirements and want to open a specific port# for Lords of Irongate to use.
