Game Area

Description:

This is the main game area where all game play occurs. The screen is broken into 5 different areas:
  1. The COMMAND HELP panel on the left shows most of your important commands.
  2. The center panel is the graphics display area that shows your player, dungeon, and other players/items.
  3. On the right hand side is your PLAYER ATTRIBUTES also known as 'player stats'.
  4. Below the gfx panel you see a thin line which represents the INPUT command line.
  5. Lastly, below it is the INFORMATIONAL area.
If you are playing multi-player with inbound portals, then you must be in this area for the server to be active (enabling others to connect to you).

At any time to go back to the top level, use the [Main Help] button below.

Commands:

[KEYPAD] - When moving your player you can either use the arrow keys on your keyboard, or the keypad. By using the keypad you gain the diagonal movements. Certain commands require that you specify a direction, you also select the direction using the keypad/arrow keys.

(H)elp - Bring up this help window showing all your command options.

[SPACE] - When playing multi-player you need to be able to chat with others, to indicate you are about to begin a chat string press the SPACE bar key first followed by the string of text you wish to broadcast to everyone who is within audible range of you (usually visible range too). Press [ENTER] when done and ready to send the chat message.

(!)Shout - Similar to [SPACE] but broadcasts the chat message to EVERYONE in the whole level

(=) Go Stairs/Portal - Whenever you stand on a stairway, or portal you can select to enter it (to pass through) with this button.

(O)pen or close door - Opens or closes a door, must be followed by a direction (use keypad)

(A)ttack being - To attack another player or non-player character (NPC) with your currently equipped weapon [or hands if no weapon has been (W)ielded], you first select the 'A'ttack key followed by the direction [keypad].

(B)uy/(S)ell item - These commands notify an NPC that you want to buy or sell an item. If the NPC can talk, and it is friendly it will respond accordingly.

(C)ast spell - If your player is capable of casting spells you begin with this command. A list will show you all of the spells that you could cast, if you have enough spell points, simply select it by entering the number followed by [ENTER]. It may continue to prompt for more information (such as direction) be sure to watch the command line for more prompts.

(F)ind/search area - Some items may be hidden from normal view, your player has a detection % which is normally checked whenever he wanders the dungeon. Selecting (F)ind/Search increases this % by 50% for the current area he/she is at.

(P)ick up item - If you player is standing on top of an item, it can be picked up and added to inventory with this key. No item is activated by simply picking it up, it must either be wielded for normal use during combat/walking or it must be (U)sed.

(D)rop item - You can reduce your load by dropping items in the dungeon (that you don't need or want) with this keypress followed by the item# in your inventory. However, with the current version you can only drop one item on the same spot unless it is of the same type and is stackable (ie coins).

(M)ark item - Many items can contain some form of marking, or interesting quote or game tip. This command allows you to mark whatever you want onto an item for another to find (think of it as 'a message in a bottle' feature). To check your items you must try to (R)ead them.

(U)se item - Any item that has a specific use [such as keys] or magical activation effect [scroll, wand, ...] must be, and can be used with this command.

(R)ead item - This command simply examines the item for any non-active markings that can be read. It will also examine the item (same as examine key). Scrolls and books typically contain magical runes that must be invoked with the (U)se command - reading them is passive and will only examine markings NOT activate the spell/effect!

(W)ear/Wield item - Most weapons and armor must first be worn or wielded to be considered active for use during normal movement and/or attacks. You can ONLY wield/wear one item of one type at a time. Ie, a helmet and a hat are the same type so you can only W)ear one at a time - T)ake it off first before trying the other item.

(T)ake off item - As stated above, after wearing an item you must remove it before you can put on another item of the same type. Cursed items will require a remove curse spell/effect to remove the curse prior to you being able to (T)ake it off though.

(X)examine item - Generally describes an item and/or anything you know about the item (such as its full identity/effects).

(I)nventory holdings - This will list a complete inventory list of your holdings. It will identify those items which are currently equipped with an asterix (*) and those that you have multiples of (which are stackable) or which have multiple charges are identified with a number between 2 brackets, ie.. [5] = 5 items/charges.

(V)iew all stats - Gives you a rundown of your players (non-displayed stats) such as how much experience you have, and how much you need for the next level, and what types of spells/items you can use.

(E)at or drink - There are different types of food, drinks and potions in the dungeon. Most simply serve to refresh and heal you, some are magical in nature (potions) and can have strange effects. Best to identify potions before you drink them!

(Q)uit & exit game - Shuts down the current game session (including game server which other players may be using! doing so sends them to their home world immedietly).

(.)Location - Not shown in help panel is the period command '.' which serves to give you coordinate information (X, Y, Z) and world name.
